Product Description
Growth Factors and Cytokines for studying OSM mouse in the research area.
Storage
Mouse OSM Recombinant Protein is supplied as a lyophilized material that is very stable at -20ºC. It is recommended to reconstitute with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/mL which can further be diluted in aqueous solutions as needed. Addition of a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS, or 5% Trehalose) is recommended for long-term storage. Once in solution, store at 4ºC and use within 1 month, or store at -20ºC to -80ºC and use within 3 months to prevent loss of potency. Aliquot to avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles if storing reconstituted material at -20ºC to -80ºC
Source / Purification
Recombinant mouse OSM was expressed in and is supplied in a lyophilized form.
Background
Oncostatin M (OSM) is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines that is produced primarily by activated T cells and macrophages (1,2). OSM induces fibroblast proliferation, inhibits tumor cell proliferation, and plays a role in immune regulation (2,3). Mouse OSM binds to the OSM receptor β (OSMRβ) which forms a heteromeric complex with the common IL-6 family receptor subunit, gp130 (4). In contrast, human OSM binds to two distinct receptor complexes, the OSMRβ/gp130 and LIFRβ/gp130 complexes (4). The ability of human OSM to bind to two receptors may explain the overlapping and distinct activities of human OSM and LIF. OSM induces activation of the JAK2, STAT3, and ERK1/2 pathways (5).
