Background Membrane-spanning 4-domains subfamily A member 7 (MS4A7) is a member of a class of genes encoding four transmembrane-spanning proteins (1,2). MS4A7 is involved in signal transduction as a component of a multimeric receptor complex. Expression of the gene is primarily restricted to microglia in the brain (3).
