Protocol
Available protocols: IHC Leica Bond, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin)
Specificity / Sensitivity
Factor XIIIA (E980.1) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of Factor XIIIA protein.
Species Reactivity: Human
Source / Purification
Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a prokaryotic recombinant protein corresponding to a portion of the C-terminus of the blood coagulation factor XIIIa protein.
Background
Factor XIIIA, or fibrin stabilizing factor, is activated by thrombin and Ca to a protransglutaminase in the final step of the blood coagulation cascade that cross-links fibrin chains (1). This enzyme catalyzes the gamma-glutamyl-epsilon-lysine cross-linking between fibrin molecules, stabilizing the fibrin clot (1,2). It is widely expressed in dermal dendritic cells (3). High expression of Factor XIIIA positive cells can be indicative of inflammatory conditions such as lichen planus and psoriasis (4).
