Product Usage Information
Western Blotting: 1:1000
Storage
Supplied in 10 mM sodium HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg/ml BSA, 50% glycerol and less than 0.02% sodium azide. Store at -20°C. Do not aliquot the antibody.
Protocol
Available protocols: Western Blotting
Specificity / Sensitivity
Phospho-Synapsin-1 (Ser605) (D4B9I) Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody recognizes endogenous levels of Synapsin-1 protein only when phosphorylated at Ser605 (corresponds to Ser603 in rat).
Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat
Source / Purification
Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Ser605 of human Synapsin-1 protein.
Background
Synapsins, a group of at least five related members (synapsins Ia, Ib, IIa, IIb, and IIIa), are abundant brain proteins essential for regulating neurotransmitter release (1,2). All synapsins contain a short amino-terminal domain that is highly conserved and phosphorylated by PKA or CaM kinase I (1). Phosphorylation of the synapsin amino-terminal domain at Ser9 inhibits its binding to phospholipids and dissociates synapsins from synaptic vesicles (2).
Alternate Names
Brain protein 4.1; MRX50; SYN1; SYN1a; SYN1b; Synapsin; Synapsin I; synapsin Ib; Synapsin-1; SYNI
