Background TASOR (also known as FAM208A or RAP140), along with MPP8, periphilin, and MORC2, comprise members of the human silencing hub (HUSH) complex, which is recruited to sites of H3K9me3 and helps target SETDB1 to maintain transcriptional repression (1,2). In addition to functioning at genomic sites, the HUSH complex also cooperates with TRIM28 to silence LINE-1 elements (3,4). TASOR has been shown to play a critical role in early embryonic development (5,6). Additionally, TASOR cooperates with the RNA deadenylase scaffold protein CNOT1 to repress HIV expression (7).
