Background The Integrator complex is a multi-protein complex consisting of multiple subunits that regulates the termination of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) transcription (1,2). The Integrator was first discovered as a complex that processes the 3′ end of small nuclear RNAs, but subsequent studies have also established the importance of this complex in processing enhancer, viral, and telomeric RNAs (3). Integrator complex subunit 11 (INTS11) is the catalytic subunit of the complex and works in conjunction with INTS4 and INTS9 subunits to create a heterotrimeric complex referred to as the "Integrator cleavage module" (4-6). This module carries out the RNA endonuclease activity by cutting nascent RNAs (7).
