High pressure capsules are recommended whenever higher pressures are expected. The covers of these capsules contain a bursting disk that allow sample to escape in the event that pressure exceeds 150 atm. This allows the endothermic signal produced by volatile samples or by-products to be suppressed, which permits the study of explosive materials and can be used in any situation where the a self-generating atmosphere is used. Capsules are available in stainless steel, gold-plated stainles steel, and titanium.
