The 1 cc Oasis MCX cartridges contain the Oasis MCX, which is a novel, mixed-mode polymeric sorbent that has been optimized to achieve higher selectivity and sensitivity for extracting basic compounds with cation-exchange groups. Since the Oasis MCX sorbent is water wettable, it maintains its capability for higher retention and excellent recoveries even if the sorbent runs dry, which means there is no need to take extraordinary steps to keep the sorbent beds from drying out during the critical steps prior to sample loading. These syringe-barrel-type cartridges are designed for use with vacuum manifolds and automated SPE instruments.

Oasis MCX 1 cc Vac Cartridge, 30 mg Sorbent per Cartridge, 30 µm, 100/pk Created to overcome the limitations of traditional silica-based, mixed-mode sorbents, Oasis MCX is a strong mixed-mode cation exchange, water wettable, polymeric sorbent produced by a novel and reproducible Waters-patented process. In order to provide high selectivity and sensitivity for basic compounds, Oasis MCX provides dual modes of retention – ion exchange and reversed-phase – on a single, clean, stable, high surface area, organic co-polymer that is stable from pH 0 through pH 14. In addition to excellent pH stability, Oasis MCX has superior binding capacity than other silica-based and mixed-mode SPE sorbents. The ability to fully manipulate pH during the development, optimization, and use of SPE methods on mixed-mode sorbents leads to fast, straightforward method development that ensures rugged and robust procedures. There is no analyte breakthrough or loss of recovery as a result of dissolving silica particles at high pH or cleaving bonded phase at low pH. Oasis MCX is designed to be paired with the proper lab equipment to provide effective use of mixed-mode SPE sorbents for extracting basic compounds from biological matrices (such as plasma, urine, bile, and tissue homogenates.) This requires high capacity, both reversed-phase for the retention of interferences and ion exchange for selective retention of analytes. While typical sorbents are synthesized in a complex process that is difficult to control with relatively low exchange capacities, Waters’ production process reproducibly delivers Oasis MCX with 1.0 meq/g of sulfonic acid ion exchange capacity. The sorbent is delivered in a 1 cc Vac Cartridge, each of which contains 03 mg of sorbent. 100 cartridges are included in each order. The sorbent is compatible with a range of columns, including XSelect CSH C18 XP Column, 130A, 2.5 µm, 2.1 mm X 100 mm, 1/pk .
