What Is The Pressure Limit For ACQUITY UPLC BEH C19 Columns? Although ACQUITY UPLC BEH columns are made to tolerate pressures up to 15,000 psi (1034 bar or 103 MPa), in order to preserve longer column lifetimes, it’s recommended to operate at lower pressures of 10,000 psi (689 bar or 69 MPa). This allows for an optimal balance between speed (linear velocity or flow rate), resolution, and column lifetime. In addition, ballistic gradients that produce sharp increases in backpressure can adversely impact the column lifetime.
Working at the extremes of pressure or any other operating limit will have negative impacts on column lifetime.
