Additional Information
LCMS Certified Clear Glass 12 x 32 mm Screw Neck Total Recovery Vial, with Cap and PTFE/Silicone Septum, 1 mL Volume, 100/pk Total Recovery Vials from Waters are made specifically for the side draw-port needle and factory needle depth settings of a Waters HPLC System. They have been designed for compatibility with other Waters HPLC lab equipment in order to guarantee reliable results. Waters understands that the quality and cleanliness of your analytical results is critical to any laboratory, so all vials are tested extensively in order to confirm the vials, caps, and septa have all been manufactured well and avoided contaminants that may impact your work. This vial has been LCMS certified, a process of MS-testing that uses an unbiased test to look for any ionized masses, regardless of their source. This test is performed in the mass spectrometer’s scan mode, determining total ion count as well as the presence of clusters in the high-mass range. The LCMS Certified Clear Glass 12 x 32 mm Screw Neck Total Recovery Vial provides a maximum sample capacity of 1 mL. Each order includes 100 vials with caps included. Additional Light Blue 12 x 32 mm Cap and PTFE/Silicone Septum for LCMS Certified Vials can be purchased as needed. The screw cap on this vial is universal, and when the cap is screwed, a mechanical force squeezes the septum between the glass rum and cap. This form of screw neck allows for a superior seal, mechanically holding the septum in place during piercing. The featured septum is PTFE/Silicone, which is recommended for multiple injections and sample storage as it demonstrates excellent resealing abilities.
FAQ
What Is PTFE? The PTFE used in the septum is polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. This material is incredibly versatile because it is hydrophobic, non-wetting, high density, and resistant to high temperatures. It also has non-stick properties that make it useful in a variety of applications, including liquid chromatography.
PTFE is also extremely chemically resistant and inert, which is what makes it a good choice for sealing components in chemically aggressive applications. It is also FDA-approved for food-safe usages, which means that when laboratories work with food, PTFE is an acceptable material to use in lab equipment such as vial caps.
