The gel is a cross-linked hydroxylated polymer and contains some residual carboxyl functionality. Ultrahydrogel DP contains some residual amine functionality. Compounds normally characterized include oligomers and biological substances such as polysaccharides, nucleic acids, proteins, and peptides.
